For the cc, you can check her after 10 minutes, then 15 minutes, then every 20 minutes until she goes to sleep at bedtime. You then repeat when she wakes through the night. You can pick her up on each check if it helps. How did the rest of the night go?

She woke at 9pm but was asleep again within 5 mins so didnt check on her. She work at 2am, picked her up once then left, she cried for 5 mins and was asleep again. She work at 4.30 am and because she has been used to a feed at night and when I picked her up she was looking frantically for I feed - I gave a little feed. She woke again at 6.30 and took a massive feed then slept until 8.30. I have also been working on the day time routeen. Slept in the pram 11.15 - 12pm without crying and at home in the cot 2.30 -3.30pm, this took 10 minutes of crying - so not bad. I have choen two sleep times in the day that she used to have sleeps or show signs of tiredness and tomes that I know that I can stick to - I am hoping aswe follow the routeen that at least the afternoon one will go for a bit longer. Dont want to speak too soon but it seems to be working already.

Sounds like a good start. Just a couple of tips. Don't feed her during the night from now on. She doesn't need it. You can offer her some water in a beaker if you want. Giving her a feed will just make this process take longer. If she wakes at 6.30am, get her up for the day and let her have a nap a bit later. Feeding her and then letting her go back to sleep straight away can lead to early morning waking which is the hardest problem to solve. Hope that helps. Please post back with any questions.

Thanks for the tips!! Wow - cant beleive the difference - she slept all night (7.30 - 6.45) with not much protest at all and with one feed at 3am. BUT... The last thing I want is to sort one sleep problem out only to create another!! I have always thought that letting a baby cry or waking a baby to feed is quite cruel, but if I am doing one, I may as well do both - plus I am not really a morning person!! I will try the dream feed at 11pm instead of the night feed. She is having her morning nap now after having put her in the cot awake -We started using a sleeping bag the same time as the routeen and she seems to know what is happening when she is put in the sleeping bag!! Cant beleive we all, including her, have suffered with lack of sleep for 3 months and it seems to have been solved in 3 nights!! - lets hope it sticks!!

I wouldn't introduce a dream feed now. What is likely to happen is that she will wake twice and she doesn't actually need any milk between bedtime and 6am (or a bit later if you would prefer to feed from 7am).

Its all gone wrong again!! - Well not quite. Cari was sleeping well going into the cot awake and settling herself, having two naps in the day time, the morning one normally in the buggy. BUT... We went to stay with the inlaws and it went wrong again, back to the nightmare we had before starting the sleep system. She went to bed at 7.30 sleepy and tired settled herself, she slept until around 9pm, woke again at 11.30pm, again at 1.30am, again at around 2.30am - its all a blur after that but there wasnt much sleep happening and we had a whole lot of crying for three nights - she just would not settle - even though she was in our bed at one point. We came home, the first night took 50 minutes of controlled crying, then we are back to good sleeps again. Is it that she is sensitive to change in beds (see also first post). I dont want to go anywhere again!!! Help!!

You probably jumped out of bed too quickly initially because you didn't want to disturb the in-laws and from thereonin it went down hill. Bringing her into your bed certainly won't have helped. Keep consistent now for a couple of weeks and then try going somewhere else.

Hi - thanks for the reply. No - actually she started waking before we even went to bed and we went through the CC and left her for 10 mins, then every 15 mins.On one occasion it took 1 1/2 hours te get her to sleep then she woke up again an hour later. It wasnt until the early hours of the 2nd night that she came to bed as she was so distressed. We did CC again on the 3rd night and she wouldnt settle again. it was really strange.

Hi Wendy Great thanks. Cari woke up once but she does have a sore tooth, she settled back with a little cuddle. She seems to have settled back to the routeen at home now - my concern is that she will not settle/sleep when put in a strange bed again.

It looks like she is back on the right sleepy road. As I said previously, try again at a different sleep venue in a couple of weeks.
