Just tried the crying out method and feeling guilty!
Hi there,
Just new to this but I have an eight month old wee boy who has never slept more than 3-4 hours. I am getting ill so we have decided tonight to try the crying out method. he has been sleeping in with us and I have been feeding on demand until last week when we introduced water after 10pm until 6pm.
I just need reassurance that we are doing the right thing. It feels so wrong and against all our natural instincts.
Thanks.Waterbaby

Having just started it myself (on day 3) I am amazed by the results already and I really hope that you experience the effects as quickly as we have. Yasmin is also 8 months and has never slept through until we used the controlled crying. I know it feels horrible but when she stopped after and hour and 15 mins she slept 8 hours which was just unheard of! So we are sticking with it and hoping for more positive results each day. Yesterday was tough more waking in the middle of the night but stuck it out and I feel like I'm a different woman already. I have been so irritable, emotional, forgetful everything was a disaster and I really feel I can now see light at the end of the tunnel. I know you feel like the cruellest person but my little girl is going to get the mummy back that I really want to be rather than the sleep deprived zombie I have been. Stick with it - good luck

It's best to stick to just one thread so we have a record of what's happened & any advice you've been given.
Sorry you've waited longer than usual for a reply. What happened during the rest of the night? And last night? With CC at night, it's a case of keeping going until he goes to sleep I'm afraid. The first night or two are usually the worst then things start to get much better.
PUPDCD would be an option if you feel CC isn't for you. At Harris' age it works best if you adapt it a bit & do 10 mins comforting in the cot (hair stroking, patting, shhing) alternated with 10 mins out of the room. It still means 10 mins of crying but there's much more comforting which many parents prefer. It takes longer to work but you should see improvements in 7-10 nights.
