Mothers Who Get More Sleep are Likely to Lose the Weight Gained During Pregnancy
Research in the United States has shown that mothers who want to lose the pounds gained during
pregnancy should try to get more sleep.
The study of 940 mothers has shown that mothers who get five hours or less sleep
a day when their babies are six months old are three times more likely to have kept
on the weight gained during pregnancy than more rested mothers at one year.
Mothers who have five hours or less sleep are likely to have kept on 11 pounds of weight
one year on from birth.
Wendy Dean, author of The Baby Sleep System commented,
"This comes as no surprise. Mothers who are rested after a good full night's sleep are more likely to get out and about and engage in more physical activity than a mother who feels lethargic and run-down."
