Emma and Adam (12 Weeks Old)
Emma, from Manchester, started The Baby Sleep System when her son Adam was 6 months old. He had started to sleep through the night at 12 weeks but over the Christmas period he got a cold and cough and since then, had been waking up at 3:00am or 4:00am and taking upto two hours to settle.
At first Emma had put it down to the cold but even after this had cleared up
the waking continued. Emma and her partner had tried controlled crying but didn't
seem to be getting anywhere. They bought The Baby Sleep System
to access some extra help via the
Baby Sleep Answers Support Forum.
Wendy asked for some more information via the forum. She
established that he was on solids, asked questions about his day and night time
routines and sought additional information about where he slept etc. At first
the case was somewhat perplexing as Emma was following practically all of the advice
outlined in The Baby Sleep System. There was no problem with his bedtime routine
and he went to sleep in his cot at night without so much as a squeak. However,
at 3:00am he was waking like clockwork.
Wendy devised a strategy that was unique to Adam. It included increasing his
food and drink through the day and tips on how to deal with the night time waking.
The result is best explained by Emma:
"A few weeks on and we followed your plan to the letter -
after a blip due to a bad cough - we are now enjoying regular "sleep through" nights.
Fantastic! Thanks so much - this process is hard at first but really works so I would
recommend to anyone stick with it - it really delivers. So much so we over slept the
other morning and the whole house was late for work/nursery - I was delighted!!!!
He's a really happy baby, who now gets much more out of nursery
and a happy mum and dad who are more able to cope during the day. Thanks again."
